What they actually achieved
The collaboration between AWS and JPMorganChase developed a hybrid quantum-classical approach for large-scale graph optimization, achieving a decrease in problem size by approximately 80% for portfolio optimization tasks. Their techniques show promise in embedding smaller subproblems onto near-term quantum devices.
What they did not achieve
Although novel methods were developed, a clear quantum advantage was not demonstrated. The results focus on using quantum devices as co-processors rather than completely solving problems with quantum resources alone.
